Personal Information:
I'm Hannah, a qualified chemistry teacher based in the Midlands. I studied chemistry at the University of Birmingham, graduating with a first class MSci degree. After a stint as an Academic Coach at a sixth form college, where I worked 1:1 with A-Level Chemistry and BTEC Applied Science students, I realised how much I loved teaching chemistry, and how much I enjoyed helping students understand tricky content. To this day, the 'lightbulb' moment when a concept clicks is my favourite thing about my job!

I completed my teacher training in 2022, then went on to teach chemistry at a grammar school for 2.5 years. In this role, I taught chemistry across the whole secondary age range, and took multiple cohorts of students through their GCSE and A-Level exams. The majority of students in these groups achieved their target grade.

Since April 2025, I have been a full-time tutor, working 1:1 with GCSE and A-Level students. I have taught students who are homeschooled, students with SEN, and students aiming to study medicine and dentistry. My students have given me excellent feedback, often emphasising how much my lessons have improved their confidence.

All of my lessons are tailored to the student's individual needs. I check for understanding throughout the lesson using questioning, and provide lots of opportunities for independent practice. Exam questions are an important component of my teaching, especially in the lead up to exams. Furthermore, I aim to build strong relationships with students and create a relaxed learning environment. I make sure students know it's okay to make mistakes and ask questions, and am always happy to go over concepts multiple times until a student is happy.

Outside of teaching, I like to read, play board games, and watch tennis. I'm also a member of a choir, even though I can't sing!
