Personal Information:
I’m Beate, a qualified Modern Foreign Languages teacher with 15 years of teaching experience. My mother tongue is German and my original 1st class degree in translation is from the University of Mainz in Germany. I studied at the University of Granada, Spain for a year.

Since then I have been living in the UK, and after years of working in the chemical industry I decided to change career and completed my PGCE in German and Spanish from the University of Cumbria. I have worked as a teacher of German and Spanish in a number of secondary schools in the Preston area and have taught both languages up to A-Level, with a brief spell of teaching undergraduate PGCE students at the University of Cumbria.

I am enthusiastic about learning languages and I know from my own experience how useful they can be in any business career. As a teacher, I am keen to share that enthusiasm and always design engaging activities whilst keeping a strong focus on the grammar and vocabulary requirements of the current GCSE specifications. I enjoy helping students to speak in the foreign language, and as much as possible that is what we will do in my lessons.

This summer, my Spanish GCSE class achieved 100% pass rate under the brand-new MFL specification; the teaching of the new spec from scratch over two years has given me valuable up to date exam experience that I can now share with new students.
