Hello. I'm an experienced science teacher who has worked in education for 28 years. I teach chemistry, biology and science GCSEs (AQA and Edexcel IGCSE), KS3, and ISEB CE, and I have the enviable reputation amongst students of being, 'the nutty one'!
I'm not really mad - I just enjoy making my lessons fun and creative - I use props such as ping pong balls and Barbie dolls - whatever it takes to make learning visual and enjoyable, whilst ensuring that learning happens.

My career in education started back in 1998, in a small primary school, working with six-year olds who weren't making sufficient progress with their learning - that was my introduction to special educational needs - and I loved it. I realised very quickly that some students needed alternative ways of learning and that's when I began to employ more 'creative' methods of teaching - imaginary hats, songs, raps, dance movements - and the result? The progress those learners made said everything.

That approach has served me well across a wide range of learners from students who've disengaged with curriculum learning, to SEND students who aren't being taught in a way that works for them, to top sets who are sitting GCSEs and who need pushing further than the classroom can take them. I base the learning on where the student is, not where the curriculum assumes they should be.
