Currently Archaeology is offered by only some exam boards at AS/A Level i.e. AQA and OCR. It is not offered in schools as a specialist subject at KS4 / GCSE. However it can be studied as a smaller topic within the Classical Civilisation or Ancient History syllabus at GCSE level. Students however have the option to decide if they wish to study A Level at an appropriate further education college or sixth form.

AS-Level Archaeology introduces the discovery of sites and landscapes and how these can be excavated. Detailed study of how techniques and methods are used to excavate the age of sites includes the recording, analysing of material, dating of sites and interpretation and presentation of evidence. AS-Level also uses the knowledge of archaeological information to form a final conclusion from the evidence gathered from forms such as religion, art, symbolism and rituals.

If you are a student who has difficulty in understanding the aforementioned subjects you may wish to consider looking for private lessons with us. With specialist local coaching our personal Archaeology teachers can assist you with exam preparation as well as help you improve your revision techniques. This can be carried out by answering question using past paper practise.

A-Level Archaeology is split into the three major areas. The first area involves how social organisations and settlement knowledge is used. This particular topic concentrates on factors such as type of settlement, population types and numbers, warfare and social changes over time. The second main topic for A2-Level Archaeology made by humans and how these artefacts were produced. The final area studied at A2-Level investigates how economic factors are related to the study of Archaeology such as availability of food, how communication and transport was achieved as well as trade and money. Whilst Archaeology can be an enjoyable subject there are many key points points to learn. With the help of personal Archaeology classes or online Archaeology tuition we can help boost your performance in your examination.
