Subjects:
I tutor students up to A level in both Maths and Physics and up to GCSE level in general science. Students often require help with the transition between schools and colleges. I provide support for entrance exams at 11+ and applications to colleges and universities. My students are from a wide range of both state and private schools. International students are made very welcome.

Price and Range:
Fees from £35 per hour. Zoom, Teams, Meet, etc., on-line tuition.
Students are encouraged to send examples of work and queries, weekly. No additional charge is made for this popular service.

Personal Information:
I am a fully qualified and experienced teacher of Physics and Mathematics. I have been tutoring for over 10 years, full-time for over 5 years. Currently, all tuition is on-line via Zoom, Teams, Meet and other systems. The on-line tuition has been a revelation as it allows the tutor and student to concentrate and share ideas without distraction or wasted travel time.

My degree is in Physics from the University of Exeter. In addition, I studied part-time with the Open University for many years before joining Exeter full-time. My Post Graduate Certificate in Education followed, along with Qualified Teacher Status. My enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service certificate is current and updated each year. I hold membership with The Tutor Association. Teaching practice was in a variety of schools from Grammar to state secondary to sixth-form college. Also, I have experience with students who require learning support.

The business name Old School Tuition was chosen because I try to keep the learning methods simple, using tried and trusted approaches, lots of books, plenty of practice questions. The aim is to create a student who is confident in their abilities and capable of self-study. Students who follow the advice and work will boost their grades in exams.

Away from tutoring, we enjoy walking our dogs in the Devon countryside with occasional cycle rides if the dogs allow. Sometimes, students may hear our dogs greeting the delivery drivers to our home. I love technology and try to teach myself coding with a Raspberry Pi computer. I encourage all my technology students to learn basic coding prior to university level education.
