Personal Information:
Every child is different: I adapt my teaching to the specific needs of each individual student. If my initial approach misses the mark, I will try another, often switching things up mid-lesson if necessary. I am a patient, responsive teacher with an extensive subject knowledge. I always care about my students - even if they are moody teenagers! I am a fully qualified teacher with a PGCE, an MA and a BA (2.1) in English and History from Queen Mary, which is a Russell Group University. I teach English three days per week at a state secondary school in Fulham. The rest of the time I tutor and I write poetry and short stories.

I have experience working with children who have SEN needs like ASD, ADHD and dyslexia. I have ADHD myself, so I know what it’s like when your brain operates a bit differently to ‘normal’. Neuro-diverse doesn’t mean worse! I also have expertise working with highly academic students at A Level and GCSE. Former students of mine have gone on to study at Russell Group universities and Oxbridge.

In August 2019, all my A Level and GCSE students (both tutees and in school) met or exceeded their targets. Three of my GCSE English students achieved grade 9 in both English Language and Literature, and an A Level History student of mine went from a D in his Year 12 mocks to an A at A Level. I am equally proud of a dyslexic tutee who managed to pass with a 4 in English Language and a 5 in English Literature despite finding reading and writing exceptionally challenging.

Exam results aren’t everything. I always make it clear to my students that they are valuable no matter what results they get. It is important to me to truly educate a person, not just shove them along through their exams. I want my students to enjoy learning, to be curious, thoughtful and kind. My lessons will get your child the grades they need for 6th form or university, but they will also develop as a thinker and as a human being.
