I have had a great deal of experience working with and teaching both children and adults. I am passionate about the benefits of education and the learning of new skills. I know that the educational process makes the mind blossom and opens up many opportunities in life. I also know that in order to learn effectively children (and adults) have to feel safe as well as stimulated and engaged.
I am a warm, caring and very patient teacher with a lively sense of humour. I have always enjoyed working and playing with children and helping them discover new things and achieve new goals. I recognise the importance of developing confidence in children and a "have a go" attitude. I also know how important it is for a child to develop resilience in the face of a set-back or apparent failure and to learn that this is an inevitable and most valuable part of learning and achieving.
I have many qualifications and the main ones are shown below:
BA Honours Degree in English Lit (University East Anglia)
Post Graduate Teaching Diploma (Primary) (Northern Territory University, Darwin)
MA In Social Policy and Criminology (Open University)
CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce (QCF)
Counselling Certificate (Iron Mill Institute)
Development Standards for Foster Care (Somerset County Council)
