Personal Information:
I have been a tutor for ten years having been a teacher in both secondary and primary schools for nearly 25 years previously to that.

I have taught pupils and students in KS2, KS3, GCSE, ESOL, functional skills and 11+ preparation. I have most of my students for more than one academic year with some over 4 years. I have managed to increase the grades of all my students including much success at 11+ exams.

The most important aspect of being a tutor form my point of view is the relationship between the pupil or student and the rest of the family; this must be informal but purposeful with all parties being clear of negotiated objectives on the commencement of the lessons.

With all my students there has to be an initial period of assessment to ascertain the specific needs of each student. I then address these with specifically tailored material gathered from numerous sources, ranging form traditional text books to the internet.

I set homework by negotiation and expect this to be completed so it can be marked before the next lesson. I also try to liaise with each student's appropriate teacher via parents and carers.

While I was teaching in schools I worked in Business Studies, ICT and Special Educational Needs departments. Consequently I have much experience in one to one and small group teaching situations; with pupils and students with many individual subject specific needs. I have also taught very able pupils in order to try and maximise there potential.

Most of my pupils and students I have been teaching for at least one full academic year and some I have had for more than 5 years. My relationship with each student is different and is continually evolving in order to get the most out of each lesson I teach.

In conclusion it is vital that I give my student's parents and carers value for money and maintaining my professionalism. I am totally honest at all times when considering my student's progress and necessity for further lessons
