Tutoring profile
I have been teaching for 18 years in a secondary school, working with
11-18 year olds. I have been tutoring for several years and really enjoy the chance to work with students one on one. As well as focusing on knowledge, I also have keen interest in exam technique, and my role as a marker helps me to provide in depth support in this area. I can work with students studying any exam board, having tutored all of the main ones before. Coursework/practical skills can be covered if necessary.
I am used to working with high ability students, working towards A* grades/BMAT exams and can help prepare applications for medicine, veterinary, dentistry and other courses.
I have also worked with students with special educational needs, e.g dyslexia and can provide specialist support for students struggling to access full time/mainstream education.
I can fit in single, one off sessions, regularly weekly work or intensive holiday sessions to suit. There are no travel or cancellation fees. I only take on a few students at a time as this allows me to get to know their exact requirements and to fit this work around my young family. This means there is less likelihood of a session being cancelled by myself.
I have received several word of mouth referrals from current or past tutees and have written references from previous clients.
Personal profile
I received my first degree in Applied Biology from the University of Nottingham in 2003, qualified as a teacher from the University of Birmingham in 2004 and achieved my Masters in education in 2006. I have just completed my MA in Inclusive Educational Leadership. I have extra safeguarding, first aid, SEND and mental health qualifications. I am married with three children. I play several sports and have coaching and umpiring qualifications. I love to be outdoors and enjoy food, reading and music.
