Philosophy Tutors Syllabus Overview

AS-Level Philosophy firstly defines moral philosophy including normative ethics, dentological views as well as utilitarianism and virtue theory. The consideration of practical ethics are studied including euthanasia, animal rights and abortion, cognitivism as well as non cognitivism are considered as well as the philosophy of religion including faith and belief. The second module involves the study of empiricism, religion, justification and scepticism. The final module studied for AS-Level involves critical awareness of set texts. The fifth module studied for A2-Level, like that of AS-Level, studies set texts including one set book from Aristotle, Hume, Mill, Nietzsche Russell or Ayer. As with all a-Levels the sixth module is a synoptic exam where there is a choice of comparative study or complementary study.
