GCSE Law can be divided into four major topic areas. Law in society involves the understanding of public Law, criminal Law, constitutional Law, administrative Law, family and tort Law as well as legal and European issues. The freedom of individual rights, as well as freedom of movement are studied including freedom of movement including arrest , remand, sentencing or freedom of speech. Racial sexual and disability discrimination as well as protection of rights and freedoms by Parliament , courts, European Convention for Human Rights are also studied.
GCSE Law syllabus also involves the studying of legal institutions such as the courts hierarchy within the judicial system. This include the county courts, the magistrates courts, the crown courts, tribunals, roles and individuals working in Law including jurors, magistrates, barristers, solicitors and legal executives. Legal process involving how the Law is made and enforced involving statute, delegated legislation, European Law, case Law , prosecution process and the civil process. The final area studied concentrates on legal issues including contract Law, tort Law , family Law and criminal Law.
AS-Level Law and A2- Level Law concentrates on the following areas including Law making involving domestic and delegative European legislation, dispute solving , judges and lay people, concept of liability with an introduction to criminal and tort liability .Other areas covered also include criminal Law including criminal offences against people and criminal offences against property, tort Law, protection of human rights, consumer protection and concepts of Law.
On the commencement of studying a Law degree (LLB), like all other subjects a student as the choice in specialisation including the following international Law, constitutional Law administrative Law criminal Law tort Law and civil Law.
