GCSE Law can be divided into four major topic areas. Law in society involves the understanding of public, criminal, constituitional and administrative Law. As well as concentrating on as society as a whole, The syllabus defines Family and tort Law as well as legal and European issues. The freedom of individual rights, as well as freedom of movement are studied including freedom of movement including arrest, remand, sentencing or freedom of speech. Racial sexual and disability discrimination as well as protection of rights and freedoms by Parliament, courts, European Convention for Human Rights are also studied.
The GCSE syllabus also involves the studying of legal instituitions such as the courts hierarchy within the judicial system. This include the county courts, the magistrates courts, the crown courts, tribunals, roles and individuals working in Law including jurors, magistrates, barristers, solicitors and legal executives. Legal process involving how legislation is made and enforced involving statute, delegated legislation, case European Law and the prosecution process and civil process. The final area studied concentrates on legal issues including contract and tort, family and criminal Law.
AS-Level and A2-Level Law concentrates on the following areas g involving domestic and delegative European legislation, dispute solving, judges and lay people, concept of liability with an introduction to criminal and tort liability. Other areas covered also include include criminal offences against people and criminal offences against property, tort Law, protection of human rights, consumer protection and concepts.
