Overview Of The Classical Civilisation Syllabus

GCSE Classics deals with Greek and Latin literature in translation. Here students study two set works from a choice of six including works of Homer, Sophocles, Aristophanes, Virgil, Platus and Livy. The second main topic area studied at GCSE is Greek and Roman Civilisation which again two of the following topics are studied including, Mycenean civilisation, Greek religious festivals, the early empire, Athenian constituition, Athenian social life, Roman social life, or Pompeii and Roman conquest of Britain.

AS-Level & A2-Level Classical Civilisation concentrates on the following areas Greek and Roman history, Greek and Roman literature, Greek History and culture, Roman history and culture.
